About Open House Bergen

Within the luscious green meadows between mountains and fjords lies Bergen; Norway’s second largest city. Founded in 1070 this city and former capital is full to the brim with a diverse selection of historical and architectural accomplishments. Over the centuries the city has grown to develop a beautiful and unique bricolage of internationally-influenced architecture with deep roots in traditional construction technologies founded in Western Norway.

Open House Bergen aims to exhibit a varied collection of projects to form a broader understanding of how the city has shaped itself over time, as well as how it continues to develop today. Open House Bergen will exhibit both public and private projects to provide not only experiences, but also a platform from which to establish a dialogue about Bergen’s architecture. The architectural heritage of the city supports us in this endeavour, and as we see across the world - Bergen is growing, and its new transformation is unfolding before us.
