OPEN HOUSE WIEN
VIENNA, AUSTRIA
10-11 SEPTEMBER

In the 9th edition of Open House Wien, 50 buildings can be visited - from historic Ringstrasse buildings to bottom-up initiatives for urban greening. The three thematic trails set priorities and outline possible future scenarios for housing.

  • "Sustainable Building: Climate, Energy, Redevelopment" presents buildings that make a city fit for the future - from innovative energy management to exemplary redevelopment to climate-friendly open space planning.

  • "IBA Vienna - New Social Housing" brings outstanding projects of new social housing to the fore. IBA_Vienna 2022 was the first international building exhibition to be launched in Vienna with the aim of stimulating new developments for the future of social housing.

  • "Baugruppen Trail" presents projects that a community of people plans, finances and builds, usually with the support of a developer. In recent years, community housing projects and building group projects have increasingly come to the fore. These initiatives by committed groups of people represent an important development towardS self-empowerment in questions of housing and towards quality and socially sustainable solutions.

Can’t make it to Vienna? Check out Haus ohne Beton (house without concrete), a short tour of a remarkable home planned by clay building expert Andi Breuss. Made exclusively with wood and clay and no synthetic materials.
