Open House Roma 2024 invites participants to reflect on architecture for sustainability and how our cities can regain a balance with the environment; it facilitates access to architectural heritage for people with visual and hearing disabilities through the project “STRAordinario”; and celebrates the enhancements of “rebellious” neighbourhoods and social and affordable housing districts with high quality green spaces and relations to the city. Highlights among the 300 events include the spacious Nuvola, the Roma Convention Center built in 2016 by Studio Fuksas; the treasure chest-like Biblioteca Pio IX at Pontificia Universita Lateranese; and Palazzetto dello Sport – Un Puzzle 3D, built on the occasion of the 1960 Rome Olympics.

EXHIBITION
INCLUSION AND ACCESSIBILITY
BRNO, CZECHIA

In advance of the 2024 edition of Open House Brno (18-19 May), which focuses on accessibility and inclusion, art historian Šárka Bahounková has curated an exhibition about the city’s commitment to inclusive design that foregrounds 26 examples of buildings across residences, healthcare, education, culture, recreation, and infrastructure that are welcoming to all residents: children, parents, seniors, people with disabilities and other marginalised groups. The exhibition is on view at St. Anne’s University Hospital through 19 May and includes project descriptions in both Czech and English.
