About Open House Slovenia

Open House Slovenia is the only member of the Open House Worldwide network representing the whole country and not an individual city. This is not surprising since Slovenia is a small country with only 2 million residents. But nevertheless it has a long architectural tradition and interesting contemporary architecture. Open House Slovenia was the 10th member of Open House Family. In all these years it has opened to the public more than 630 architectural and urban projects, which were visited by more than 16.000 visitors.

Open House Slovenia 3 day event aims to connect architects, designers and other experts with citizens, to support interaction and open discussion about architecture and urban space. The event promotes quality design accessible to all, and informs the public with tools and knowledge to better understand values of quality built space.

Along the festival that happens over a weekend once per year, we regularly write about good architecture on our website and social media. Over the years we have built the biggest Slovenian contemporary architectural guide online. Lately, we are exploring the inclusive and sustainable aspects of architecture.

Open House Slovenia was awarded the highest Slovene national architectural award – Plečnik's Medal in 2012 for exceptional contribution to architectural culture.
